Topic: I-35 widening under the 75th Street Bridge-The presentation will cover the background and history of the project, and why this section of I-35 is prone to regular traffic backups.  A description of the project development process, including collaborative efforts between KDOT, Johnson County, Lenexa and Overland Park led completion of the project which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2020.  A summary of major design and traffic management challenges that were encountered and how they were addressed, along with lessons learned.

Speakers: Troy Eisenbraun with Wilson & Company and Steve Rockers with KDOT

Troy Eisenbraun is a Senior Vice President with Wilson & Company and has served as Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager and Principal-in-Charge on a variety of urban and rural transportation projects.  During his tenure with the firm, Troy directed the transportation design staff serving state and local clients in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.  He joined Wilson & Company in 1986 after spending more than 5 years with the Kansas Department of Transportation. Troy earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD, and is a licensed professional engineer in Kansas and several other states. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Kansas Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Council of Engineering Companies.

Steve Rockers is a Road Design Leader with the Kansas Department of Transportation. Steve has spent his career with KDOT in the Bureau of Road Design spanning 28 years. Steve has worked on projects across the state of Kansas with the widening of US-69 in Johnson County being one of the larger and high-profile projects.  Steve is a graduate of the University of Kansas with degrees in Business and Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Kansas.
